Our inaugural Yellow Jersey winner for the newest LHPU location, San Antonio, is Rishiraj Garlapally! Rishi is very punctual and is well-spoken. He adapted himself to learn LabVIEW where he created a host file and a user interface to calibrate the throttle and to open and close it with respect to the pedal position. Rishiraj is an overall quick learner and a good speaker. Congratulations Rishi!
Rishiraj Garlapally has always been interested in flying objects and understanding the mechanism behind it. His interest led him to opt for a Bachelor’s in Aeronautical Engineering. He served as a Manufacturing Intern at the Defense Research and Development Laboratory where he was involved in the assembly of an AGNI missile, a surface to surface ballistic missile.
Rishi also served an internship in the inspection and assembly of “skiroskyS29” helicopter cabin assembly at Tata Advanced Systems, where he implemented LEAN methods and risk mitigation of a helicopter. His enthusiasm and interest to gain practical knowledge led him to the Performance Engineering bootcamp at LHPU. During LHPU, he worked with different fuel injectors and the positioning of an electronic throttle body and applied them to a turbo-charged Mercedes Benz gasoline engine.
Rishi is a graduate student from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and holds a Master’s in Industrial Engineering. He served as the Vice President of SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) during his Master’s. In his leisure time, Rishi enjoys learning about new advances in automotive industry and travelling.
