Dr. Shaoshan Liu
Eric Bradley has over 30 years of experience in the design and development of mechatronic control systems. His career started with jet engine (CFGM56, GE90) and military flight control systems (C17, A10) and then transitioned to developing research control systems for cleaning up the emissions and improving the efficiency of diesel engines with Cummins engine company. In this role, Eric was a pioneer user of MATLAB and Simulink for the development of complex control software. This experience led him to do Model Based Software consulting for many of the major automotive companies as they were just starting to incorporate this capability. This consulting led Eric and his team to develop the MotoHawk toolset for Simulink that allowed direct development and deployment from Simulink to a rugged ECU. This too was heavily used by Mercury Marine and others to quickly develop and deliver market changing products. Most of Eric’s career has been creating rugged electronic systems or creating the development systems to support those designs. Eric possesses BSEE, MSEE and MS Mgmt degrees. Eric is a member of the LHP Board of Directors. When his head is not buried in Simulink, you will find him flying airplanes and teaching pilots the art of aviation.
As the Director of Engineering at LHP, Ashutosh Chandel is responsible for making sure projects are delivered on time, with expected quality and correct engineers assigned to each project. He is involved in multiple projects as a technical advisor as well as a reviewer from time to time. Ashutosh is also responsible for helping his team of 50+ engineers to build their skills, career developments, resolving technical and interpersonal issues and, overall, making LHP a better place to work. Ashutosh enjoys the fact that though he is in a management position, he still receives opportunities to contribute in technical projects, helping him to be up-to-date with emerging tools and technology. Ashutosh has worked in various positions such as Project Manager, Technical Advisor, etc., at his previous organizations. He brings LHP 18+ years’ experience in engineering and industrial services across multiple domains such as automotive, pharma, medical, industrial, manufacturing, and shop-floor automation, most of which are the top 100 of Fortune 500 companies. He is a proud member of SAE and a certified Functional Safety Automotive Consultant (FSCAC) and well as certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA), and helps other engineers with the certification process. Ashutosh is also a member of ISA (Instrumentation Society of America) and actively participates in the forums and discussions related to instrumentation and controls.
Chris Doyle joins the LHPU team with 25+ years of industry experience, including 17+ years automotive experience with Model Based Design and embedded automatic code generation (Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink, Woodward-MotoTron MotoHawk, LHP Panthera, National Instruments LabVIEW / VeriStand FPGA, and dSPACE TargetLink / SystemDesk) and 7+ years in heavy construction. Chris holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Ed Hodzen has over 35 Years of industry experience developing advanced control systems for safety critical applications such as aircraft and heavy-duty machinery and automotive applications. In Ed’s early career he developed turbofan engine controls for Pratt&Whitney and General Electric. Ed joined Cummins and led the control system development for the first electronically controlled engine for the Dodge Ram pickup truck. He also has experience in the development of electrification of HD equipment and engine emissions controls. Ed has had assignments leading engineering organizations in Europe and China. In the past 8 years, Ed led the Cummins Advanced Dynamics and Controls Organization in the Research and Technology division. In this role, he was engaged in ADAS and autonomous technology development in partnership with the DOE and the ARPA-E. Dr. Shaoshan Liu is the Founder and CEO of PerceptIn, an autonomous driving technology company. Since founding, PerceptIn has attracted over 12 million USD of funding from top-notch venture capital firms including Walden International, Matrix Partners, and Samsung Ventures. Before founding PerceptIn, Dr. Shaoshan Liu has over 10 years of experiences at top-notch R&D institutes including Baidu USA, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Microsoft Research, INRIA, Intel Research, and Broadcom. Dr. Shaoshan Liu received Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Shaoshan Liu has published over 60 high-quality research papers and holds over 150 U.S. international patents on robotics and autonomous driving, he is also the lead author of the best selling textbooks "Creating Autonomous Vehicle Systems” and “Engineering Autonomous Vehicles and Robots”. Dr. Shaoshan Liu is a senior member of IEEE, a distinguished speaker of IEEE Computer Society, and a distinguished speaker of ACM. Also, Dr. Shaoshan Liu is the founder of IEEE Special Technical Community on Autonomous Driving Technologies.
Jinchao Lu has more than 5 years of embedded controls engineering experience, with more than 4 years’ experience in MIL, SIL, and HIL testing in conjunction with 3+ years developing prototyping controls in MATLAB Simulink®, and 2+ years of experience in autonomous technology (Computer Vision, Path Planning, Controls). Jinchao holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Florida and Bachelor’s degree in Thermal Energy And Power Engineering from South China University of Technology.
